Theater "Don Quixote, what else?
Salle du Centre Culturel
Saturday, June 1, 9 p.m.

Who hasn’t dreamed of becoming the superhero of one of these novels? That’s the case with Don Quixote! Passionate about books of chivalry, he fancies himself a knight in shining armor. He leaves behind the reality of everyday life to throw himself headlong into a romanticized life, full of flowery illusions and perils.

And so begins the story of Don Quixote… the story of a man on the bangs of society, a man capable of bringing gigantic giants, sorcerers and an army into existence… in a world that no longer believes in myths, legends or heroes, for that matter. He takes with him Sancho Panza, a poor, naive and penniless peasant, to whom he promises an island. The knight and squire set off in search of glory, wealth and crazy, extreme missions. They happily take us on joyful chivalric adventures, wackier than ever.

A funny, updated, revisited, offbeat Don Quixote! The best-known adventures are repeated, with nods to the 21st century. Yesterday’s words flirt with today’s. The era mirrors our own, and the tone is that of comedy. Interaction with the audience accentuates the absurdity and burlesque of certain situations. This adaptation offers a fast-paced, up-to-the-minute show with different reading angles.
