Science for all conference
Les secrets de notre horloge biologique
Vendredi 18 octobre à 18h30

As part of the “science for all” series of lectures given by scientific volunteers from the ” science pour Tous 06″ association , the town of Cagnes-sur-Mer invites you to meet: Friday October 18 at 6:30pm at the Maison des Associations – 7 Av. de l’Hôtel de Ville, on the theme “The secrets of our biological clock and its importance for health Hosted by Franck Delaunay.

Free admission – All ages 15 and up.

In almost all living organisms, including humans, physiology and behavior are regulated according to the day/night cycle.
This adaptation is made possible by an internal clock, called the circadian clock, which is present in each of our cells.
This clock is based on a network of genes that generate molecular oscillations with a 24-hour period, reset each day by light.
We now know that disruption of the circadian clock can have harmful consequences on health, that certain disorders appear preferentially at certain times, and that the efficacy of many drugs depends on their time of administration.
This talk will explain how our internal clock works, and why its integrity is so important to our health.

Franck Delaunay is Professor of Animal Physiology at the Université Côte d’Azur and works on circadian clocks at the Institut de Biologie Valrose.
His team’s research focuses on understanding the role of circadian clocks in mammalian peripheral organs, and in particular their relationship with fundamental mechanisms such as the cell cycle and metabolism.
The team’s work is internationally recognized.
