The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office is classified as category 1, the most demanding level of the legal system that guarantees visitors a level of service as well as coherence and homogeneity in the services delivered by the network of its information offices.
This classification, pronounced by prefectural order on June 12, 2019, is awarded for a period of five years.
Tourist customers are increasingly demanding and the stars remain an important and shared benchmark. The quality of service and hospitality is a key factor in the success of the French tourism economy. The French government has therefore decided to better guarantee the quality of its tourism offer by improving the official classification system through greater adaptation to customer expectations and international practices (law of July 22, 2009 on the development and modernization of tourism services).
Qualifying classification criteria: the classification criteria are customer-oriented, and obtaining the classification is now conditional on compliance with a level of requirements relating to the quality of the facilities and services provided.
A classification awarded for 5 years: the classification by stars is voluntary and the control of the accommodations is carried out. To keep the benefit of the stars, the accommodation is now evaluated every 5 years.
A single range of classification from 1* to 5*: to provide reliable benchmarks for tourist customers, all accommodation now has a classification ranging from 1* to 5*. All classified accommodations are evaluated according to the following three main criteria: the quality of the facilities, the quality of the services offered in the establishments, and good practices in terms of respect for the environment and the reception of disabled clients.

Created in 2001, the association “Tourism and Disability” is a turning point in the evolution of the access to leisure and vacations for disabled people.
The ambition to make France “accessible to all and for all” leads those who are involved in it to fight against the refractory with pragmatism and will and to remain permanently alert on many fronts.
It is not only a matter of making tourist sites accessible and welcoming, but also of accompanying, or even triggering, a change in mentality and establishing a new state of mind.
The Tourist Office of Cagnes-sur-Mer obtained the label “Tourism and Handicap” in June 2008, renewed on December 31, 2014, for the 4 disabilities (motor, visual, auditory and mental) and therefore has equipment, facilities, documentation … for the attention of visitors affected by a disability.
Cagnes-sur-Mer was classified as a “Station Classée de Tourisme” on November 5, 2015, national recognition of a quality policy for our tourist destination.
Since February 2016, the city of Cagnes-sur-Mer has also been classified as an “International Tourist Zone” thanks to Polygone Riviera, which now makes it possible for Cagnes businesses to open every Sunday and until midnight.
Being part of a sustainable tourism approach is becoming an absolute priority that we owe to our clients and our local population who are increasingly aware of the environmental issues, our responsibilities and our footprint on this fragile territory.
In this dynamic, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office recently created its “sustainable development” department and actively supported the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the “Consume-Less Med” labeling process for the tourism industry in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Today, 19 of our tourism partners in Cagnac have been awarded the “Consume-Less Med” label, thus creating an indispensable and exemplary impetus for our Nice Côte d’Azur destination.
